Pass Christian, MS

Two years ago, this beachside church was gutted, and its flanks torn off, by the 25 foot storm surge and 120mph winds. Now it's not looking too badly. Community structures, wealthy homes, and businesses, seem to have been rebuilt most rapidly. In less affluent areas, I see many folks still living in their FEMA trailers. Not to mention all the Katrina refugees whom I met at motels in eastern Tdxas. Many residents praise the help they'd recieved from churches and community groups, but curse the slow response of federal and state agencies, from whom they claim tn still be waiting for their aid or insurance money.
