Baton Rouge, Louisiana

It's not crawfish, which seems to be the leading food around here, but even us vegetarians can eat a big southern diet when we need to replace the calories burned by a day of cycling. Being fatigued of yelling off loose dogs on Louisiana's beautiful rural roads, to the point of a hoarse voice, I will stray from the Southern Tier route for a few days, and take US highways along the gulf coast. I very much want to see how the region, which I last visited a year and a half ago, has rebuilt after the devestation that Hurricane Katrina had wrought upon it.
